Hi,
Osteoporosis is diagnosed based on reduced bone mineral density And it can lead to fractures especially of vertebrae in females.
Biphosphonate group of drugs is usually the initial treatment and the same drug is being given in infusion form.
It is taken on an once annual basis and do mention if prescribed again. If oral treatment is preferred, it has to be taken on a regular. Many preferring convenience, go for infusions.
If renal functions are abnormal, this infusion should be avoided. Otherwise I do not think others as major side effects.
Along with, nutritional diet, physical exercise and making the surroundings elderly friendly is important.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further queries, happy to help.
