General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Some patients needs to take such medicines for life. Otherwise the symptoms come back. In some cases (especially in case of young persons), recurring acid reflux symptoms can be treated with laparoscopic surgery called Nissen fundoplication. This surgery give usually instant relief and medicines can be stopped.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
