What Is The Treatment For Ear Infection In A Child?

My 6 month old daughter has been on 5 different antibiotics for her ear infection. We finally took her to an ENT and, after a thorough examination, the ENT prescribed ciprofloxacin ear drops. We have been using the drops twice a day for 4 days now & my daughter s ear is no longer draining. Is this a good sign her infection is clearing?

Hello,

It is a good sign.you have to know whether the infection is draining from the middle ear or external ear.

If there is tympanic perforation so pus from middle ear heals on its own requires 2 weeks of antibiotics.after antibiotic treatment please check with ent that everything is cleared otherwise could lead to meningitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
