What is the treatment for chronic ischemia in a 58 year old?

hello sir . warm greet of the day .. my father is suffering from heaviness in brain and memory loss, acc to MRI there is small hyperintense focus on T2/ Flair in left occipito-parietal periventricular white matter? Chronic ischaemia/ ischemic gliosis. sir what kind of problem is this . what are the various precautions need in such cases . age of my father is 58. he used to drink a lot also .

Hello,

It is an age related change and generally no definite treatment is required. If he is a smoker the habit of smoking should be stopped to prevent the progress of the disease. Some physicians used to give drugs like blood thinners for this condition.
