What Is The Treatment For Chronic Calcific Pancreatitis?

I am 40 years male. I am suffering from Chronic Calcific Pancreatitis and Diabetes from the year 2007. At present I am taking the following medicines: Creon 25000 - Thrice daily; Pantodac DSR - OD; Selvit -CP - twice daily; Cardace- 5mg - OD; Huminsulin - 30/70 - 36 units before Breakfast & 26 units before dinner, Galvas - 50 - one after lunch. I have occasional pain in my abdomen specially when gas is formed in the upper abdomen. Diabetes is not well controlled even after taking insulin and Galvas-50. Please suggest me how to manage abdominal pain and diabetes better.

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM). Chronic calccific pancreatitis (CCP) as the name suggest is a chronic disease. It has not got any cure so one has tto be treated symptomatically only. For pain I will advise you to take analgesic containing tramadol and paracetamol like ultracet. Take small and frquent meals. Avoid fatty diet. Dibetes is difficult to control in patients with CCP thats why also known as brittle diabetes. avoid sugar, do regular exercise and take healthy diet. Take the opinion of an Endocrinologist for better control of sugar levels.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
