What Is The Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Cramps?

I have had bouts of severe stomach cramping almost every day for about two weeks now. The pain is worst in my lower mid abdmonial area but is also felt up into my sides. The best way to describe the pains are like the worst labor pains that I had with my kids. The cramping usually lasts for about 30 mins but today lasted an hour and act like labor pains, very severe for a breif period, paralyzing, I feel nauseated and break out in a sweat, then they relax, then start again after a minute or two. I thought maybe it was diarrhea at first, but nothing happened when I sat on the toilet. I managed to have bowel movements a few times, but they looked normal.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such pains and cramps are characteristic for partial bowels obstruction. Due to some intestine narrowing (caused by adhesions for example) the stool can not pass it freely. So the smooth muscles of the intestines trying to push as hard as possible to move the stool. This gives symptoms described by you. You may have bloated abdomen and a feeling of trapped gas in the intestines.
I suggest you to do not wait with it. Please consult your doctor. Blood work, urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound and abdominal X-ray should be done at first. Colonoscopy and enteroclysis (abdominal CT with oral contrast) should be the next.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
