Hello doctor i m suffering from irregular periods for about 4 to 5 years now i m takint meprate for now but i m reallly puting on weight for the past years could u help me with an alternative? Or should i continue with meprate for my PCOS problem Kindly help me Thank u Arti

Hello,

Meprate tablets contain a chemical similar to the female hormone progesterone. It may cause weight gain as a potential adverse effect on some patients.
An alternative would be combined oral contraception with low dose or very low dose of estrogen/progesterone. These would be for instance Yaz, Mircette, Lo Estrin Fe, Yasmin, etc.
