What Is The Remedy For An Ingrown Toenail?

I had an an ingrown toenail removed a few years back. They cut my big toe nail in half and peeled it off where it was infected. Now my toenail is grown back but there is a weird little pokey nail growig back separately between the side of my nail and skin.. It's attached at the base but grows upward. I try to clip it but it only grows back. What should I do?
