What Is The Remedy For Allergy Due To Iodine?

My son had his appendix removed due to appendicitis and after that he developed a skin irritation and i was told that he could probably be allergic to iodine, but not he is worse and his skin has red bumps. What should I do. I just gave him Zyrtec for kids for allergies.

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

There are two possibilities. First, as you mentioned that it could be due to iodine allergy. Second, wound could have been infected. I would suggest you following:
> keep wound dry and clean
> Wash hands before and after touching the wound
> Clean wound with detol/spirit and then apply polyfax plus ointment on it.
> For allergy you are already giving zyrtec. Continue it for days.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
