What Is The Reason For Stomach Pain And Need To Vomit After Taking Cough Syrup?

I get the flu a lot, so I depend a lot on medicine to help me feel better. Pills are okay, but they don t really help. Theraflu is okay, but tastes terrible. The only thing that seems to really help me is liquid cough syrup (DayQuil, NyQuil, Robotussin, etc). However, every time I take the syrup, my stomach hurts terribly and makes me feel the need to vomit for around 20 minutes. Is this because I m taking it on a (pretty much) empty stomach, or could this be an allergic reaction?

There are a lot of reasons for stomach pain. This may be due to gastric ulcer or gastritis, amoebic colitis, etc. More investigation is necessary to come to a conclusion. Vomiting symptoms may not be due to intake of cough syrup, it is the symptom of your stomach problem.
Consult a gastroenterologist.
