What Is The Prognosis For A Diabetic Coma Patient?

A freind of mine now diagnosed with diabetic coma had passed out 2 weeks ago. He peobably was uncounsious for 3 days before he was found. He also has eplepsy. He is in a hospital in Norway. They say thet he has undergone severe brain damage, and should he awaken he would not be the same. How can they diagnose brain damage? In my own experience having been out of the body seeing myself below from where i was looking, I had a feeling of compassion for the person that was uncounsious below, and went "back" to help, and I awakened in the person, that was me. I wass ent to the hospital to be checked for brain damage, but as I remebered my name and birth date i was released. So, if a person is in dibetic coma, he could still awaken? What are his chances?
