What Is The Cause Of Pain In The Groin Area?

I had bilateral inguinal hernis op back in 2007 or 2008. About four months ago I started lifting weights at gym. I was wprking the abs and felt a slight tug in my lower ab area. I quit lifting weights a month ago and have pain in the mid and lower ab area. I went to the doctor to have this checked out. He told me that it was probably a pulled muscle and not re-injury to hernias. I continue to have some pain along the groin area as well as the entire low abs as I have problems bending over to tie my shoes. Also I have pain when I bend over at all. Is there anything I can do to determine what the real problem is. I have no swelling in the lower ab area at all. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
This is bit unusual to have such type of to continue after 7 days of occurring. You have already left weight lifting and the pain still continues as you have described. The probable problem lies in the hematoma formation, which while healing has given you scar/ fibrous tissue which continue to pain. Or there may be a recurrence. The best way to diagnose if to do Ultrasonograhy in high resolution mode to know the status of the abdominal wall.
