What Is The Cause Of A Swollen Ear Lobe?

my 7 year old has 1 ear lobe bright red and a little swollen. He had a bout with infected tonsils about 3 weeks ago. He has no fever and there is no redness in his ears (per the school nurse) what could this be? there is no sign of a bug bite or discharge.
