What Is The Brownish Green Stuff In My Ear With Discharge?

I have had dark brown/green stuff in the upper portion of my ear for a week and then developed pain in the ear. Last night it felt full and I could not hear well for a time and then felt drainage. This morning the pain is a little less and there was drainage on my pillow - dark brown center and light brown around it. I always have itchy ears, and might have poked my fingernail too hard into the affected ear a few days ago, but I had some of the dark brown/greenish stuff before that. I also had some hard dark brown stuff in my ear. I took some leftover Zithromax the past two days.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dark brown and greenish discharge from the ears along with ear ache seems to be due to Ear infection..
Clogged feeling and loos of hearing is due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum while at times loss of hearing can be due to perforation of ear drum secondary to infection or physical trauma..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated as although Ziathromax that contains active ingredient Azithromycin as an active ingredient and is an antibiotic that is appropriate to treat bacterial infection but along with it you might might also need anti inflammatory painkiller, decongestant and antibiotic ear drops and decongestant nasal spray..
You should also avoid excessive water exposure to ears, popping the ears to unclog them and avoid exposure to very loud sounds..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
