What Is Pre-diabetic ? What Blood Sugar Levels Indicate Onset Of Diabetes ?
I am classified as Pre- diabetic my HbA1c is 4.9 how do you consider it? thanks

Hello Hyder, I am Dr Rangwala, Pre Diabetes is Condition where a person is having his blood sugar between Normal range and Diabetic range. When HBA1c is between 5.7 to 6.4 Prediabetes is Diagnosed, and by this criteria you dont fall in Prediabetic range, but as per your report , its absolutely in normal range. meaning you are not prediabetic. HbA1C is not used usually to diagnose DM. Even to day test recommended for
diagnosis of DM is GTT, glucose tolerence test. Three samples are being tested
fasting, 1hr,2hr after giving 100gms of glucose. Your HbA1c is absolutely normal
Up to 6.5 is considered normal. It is usually donr to see average control of last
60 to 90 days thanks
