What Does This Blood Test Report Indicate?

From my blood test report showed that my monocytes count is 1 (normal is 3-9) and ANA (SLE) is 1:640. 9 years ago I had blood test for SLE 1:40. The reason I had blood test because I ve been having skin infection like individual spots on my leg and arm. Also my glucose/sugar is only 43 (normal 74-109 mg/dl but I feel ok and have no symstom. I also had tumor marker testing done and all clear. Please let me know what should I do.

Hi,

Your test results show low monocites count, low blood sugar level and high ANA. A low number of monocytes in the blood (monocytopenia) can be caused by anything that decreases the overall white blood cell count , such as a bloodstream infection, chemotherapy, or a bone marrow disorder.

It is important to see if you have also Neutropenia and Lymphocytopenia in your Complete blood count testor CBC.I suggest to repeat CBC after a couple of days and if the low count persist than your doctor should check for the cause.

If you have diabetes, taking too much medication, skipping meals, eating less than normal, or exercising more than usual can lead to low blood sugar. If you are not diabetic, long fasting periods or eating too much carbohydrates in your meal can produce low blood sugar levels.

It is important to monitor your blood sugar levels fasting and 2 h after the meals with a personal glucometer.Discuss with your physician if you see other low blood sugar levels. About your ANA SLE result, I want to say that high or strongly positive result indicate an autoimmune disease like Lupus.

A diagnosis of lupus is based on symptoms, physical examination abnormalities, and laboratory tests. My advice is to consult your local doctor for the right diagnosis and treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
