What Does The Following PSA Test Report Show?

I am 70 years old male and recently I had PSA test for prostate cancer. The results are below 17 Mar 2010 PSA Total = 4.7, Free/Total PSA Ratio =17.5 25 aug 2010 PSA Total = 4.3, Free/Total PSA Ratio = 9.7 DRE result prostate normal (small) Symptoms: none My doctor told me that I can have biopsy, if I wanted to (up to me to decide). Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have PSA value slightly higher than normal. Its very difficult to judge when PSA level is between 4 to 10. It may be due to prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia or may be due to cancer. Chances of cancer are very low. But in few cases we finds cancer with this level also.
