What Does Ringing In Ear When Suffering From Viral Fever Suggest?

I recently diagnosed with viral fever. It 1 month now and I was still having the weakness. My physician subscribed me Neurobion for 2 week. 2 tables twice a day after food. I m also taking Usana vitamins. I feel better and have more energy then before. I don t feel much of tiredness and I can do my 2km walk daily without problem. Can I continue taking Neurobion once this 2 weeks completes? I fee abit discomfort on my left side of stomach like abit sore. I have ringing in my ear as well which is on and off since I had viral fever. Will that go away too? Please advise.

Hello,

You have a history of having viral fever. You have ringing in your ears since the time you got viral fever. You have been taking Neurobion and presently you are experiencing discomfort on the left side of the stomach. Virus-induced hearing loss is sensorineural, although conductive and mixed hearing losses can be seen following infection with certain viruses. Protect yourself from bacterial or fungal infection as it may lead to hearing loss. Taking excessive doses of vitamin D, water pills, anti-depressants etc., may cause tinnitus. Vitamins should not be taken more than prescribed.

Vitamin B12 deficiency causes tinnitus, you should include food rich in vitamin B6, B12 (low fat milk, yogurt, liver, chicken, dairy products, cheese, fish, shellfish) in your regular diet. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT and get audiology test done to detect any hearing loss and pathology associated with it. You will be treated accordingly. Neglect may cause worsening of the symptoms. Ringing in the ears can be related to infections or inflammations within the ear. Take note of all your symptoms, and contact your healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Cardiologist Dr. Ilir Sharka's  Response
Hello,

I recommend continue taking Neurobion for a month. A PPI (omeprazole, pantoprazole) or anti-acid can help with the stomach soreness. Regarding the ear ringing, I recommend taking gingk Go biloba supplements. This situation is temporary and you are going to improve soon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
