What Does "phrase Of Confluent Infiltrates Failure/effusions Are Evident" In Chest X-ray Indicate?
On a chest x-ray for conltinued coughing, the report had a phrase of Confluent infiltrates failure or effusions are evident. Also, there is a slightly decreased level of inspiration in the PA projection. Can you tell me what this might mean. The report also said the lungs are clear, the heart sie is normal and under impressions was no acute findings. I am still worried about the first two sentences. Appreciate any help you can give me. From Tom
Your report suggests suspicious lesions in the lungs. It may be due to confluent opacities due to infection or pleural effusion.
You need Ultrasound of thorax. It can differentiate pleural effusion and infection.
It is difficult to determine low grade infection present inside the lesion. t is important to rule out infective etiology. You need clinical correlation. You need further tests like routine hemogram.Further investigations can be done if needed.
Proper treatment depend upon findings.
Other findings like heart size are within normal limit.
Hope i have answered your query. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
