What Does Mild Anerysmal Dilation Of The Aorta At The Spine In CAT Scan Mean ?
Just had a nurse from Dr call with additional findings on a cat scan of left side. (Checking for kidney stones) no stones.....but the call was to say that I have a mild anerysmal dilation of the aorta at the spine. A pooching of sorts. What does this mean?
This means that the aorta (large artery carrying blood from heart to rest of the body) is slightly widened in diameter in you. This needs to be assessed by measurement and appearance criteria. In initial stages medications can be given and the dilatation is closely followed up over months to years.
