What Does Left Upper Pole Renal Cortical Cyst Indicate?

hi i am a 27 year old female with a history of kidney infections happening back to back over the past 6 years. cravings of salt, severe pain in pelvis, sharp sudden bouts of left abdominal pain that will make me fold over in exscrutiating pain. My CT shows a left upper pole renal cortical cyst. Stating there are bilateral pelves. My question is what do the CT findings mean, and what symptoms are associated with them. I have many deformations, degenerative problems, and pain found throughout entire spine. Could this be a source for some of my pain (kidney findings)?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

At your age a kidney cyst that is uncomplicated and measures less than 3 cm in diameter is a simple cyst and requires no further intervention. If its more than 3 cms in diameter and is showing septations then evaluation in greater detail is necessary. This should have no relation to any degenerative changes in your spine. I am not able to understand what exactly you mean by bilateral pelvis. If you have any problems in the renal pelvis then it is mentioned as pelvicalyceal dilatation. May I request you to please clarify this point.
