Can Pelviectasis Cause UTI Or Pyelonephritis?

My daughter is 18 months old. She had a fever for 7 days with no other symptoms. It was discovered she had a UTI with possible pyelonephritis. She just had a renal and bladder ultrasound and the only finding was that she has mild right sided pelviectasis. What is that and could that cause the UTI or pyelonephritis?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Pyelonephritis is a severe urinary tract infection of the kidneys. It usually happens due to drinking less water, or not emptying the bladder often. Avoiding the passage of urine. The infection comes from outside, from the contamination in the diaper region. Careful washing the area, to prevent the spread of motion to the genital area would reduce the likelihood of infection. Pelvicalectasia is not responsible for the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
