What does enlarged heterogenous and hypervascular thyroid gland mean. Also, on US dominant nodule predominantly solid although internal cystiuc 2.21 cm. Maximal diameter. US also states that this nodule is mildly echogenic with an internal cystic area and hypoechoic rim measuring 2.21 cm x 1.44 cm x 1.78 cm. Remainder of lobe is heterogenous. There is hyper vascular it by bilaterally all mean? Thank you

Hello,

It means that the thyroid blood supply has increased suggestive of inflammation.
The dominant 2.21 cm nodule in the thyroid need an FNAC study. You must get a thyroid function test also ( Free T4 and TSH). The inflammation in your gland can settle over a period of time, or it can progress to either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. Only time will tell this. However, please see a doctor with your thyroid function tets and also get an FMAC of the nodule done. Meet an endocrinologist
