What Does A Tuberculin Test Indicate?

A BOY PREMATURE BY THREE WEEKS ,BIRTH WEIGHT 5 POUNDS ,NOT KEPT IN INCUBATOR,WAS GIVEN B.C.G. VACCINATION WITHIN A MONTH.WAS HEALTHY TILL TWO MONTHS BACK ,SINCE THEN LOW GRADE FEVER,LYMPHOCYTES 70%,,TOTAL COUNT 12000 WBC,PRESENT WEIGHT 6.75 KILOGRAMS ,WAS DONE TUBERCULIN TEST,INDURATION 6 MM,NO WEIGHT GAIN SINCE LAST SIX WEEK,.WHAT DOES THE TUBERCULIN TEST INDICATE?CAN THE TEST,LYMPHOCYTES AND NO WEIGHT GAIN INDICATE TUBERCULOSIS.MOTHER AND FAMILY NO HISTORY OF TUBERCULOSIS IN FAMILY.HISTORY OF LOOSE MOTIONS FOR 4 DAYS ,ONE WEEK BEFORE,NOW NORMAL BUT FEVER 101 FAENHEIGHT.PLEASE ADVICE.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A total leukocytes count of 12,000 and 70% lymphocytes is normal for a new born and does not signify any disease.
Tuberculin test is done for tuberculosis.
Tuberculin test with induration of 6mm is inconclusive and does not show the infection to be tubrculosis.
Other relevant investigations need to be done to find other cause of failure to gain weight.
