What Does A Red Spot On Vagina Indicate?

This has happened 2 time. Once about 2 months ago and just a few days ago. There is a red swollen spot on my inner vaginal lip up near the clit. it burns when I urinate. Tried Vaseline but that doesn t work. Sat in a hot water bathtub and that made it feel somewhat better. Have no idea what this could be, I m 72 years old. Are thing changing.

Hello,
It could be the bartholin's cyst which develops if somehow the opening of the bartholin's gland gets obstructed. Bartholin's gands are present at both sides at the opening of vagina and helps in lubrication. Obstruction to the outflow of secretions leads the secretion to pile up and formation of cyst, which might get infected and become filled with abscess, red inflamed and painful. Treatment will depend on antibiotics in cases of infected cyst to incision and drainage of cyst. And very small non-infected cyst needs sitz bath. Visit a gynecologist to plan for treatment.
Hope this answers your query.
Regards.
