hello sir.. i m form india i have just done ga68 dotate scan for detacting carcinoid tumer my result came back today in which in final comments there are two things written how i can interprete that COMMENTS :• Suspected case of carcinoid. • No evidence of somatostatin receptor positive lesions noted anywhere in the body. and my cga level chromogranin a was 185 where ref range was up to 100 so what my pet scan suggest please advice
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of PET scan is as follows: PET scan reveals presence of a tumor arising from neuroendocrine cells. Carcinoid tumor is a tumor arising from neuroendocrine cells which secretes various hormones like somatostanin and chromogranin. There is an increase in levels of chromogranin but somatostanin is not detected. Thus the carcinoid tumor is not secreting somatostanin hormone. You need to consult your physician for further management. The treatment of carcinoid depends on the site and size of carcinoid tumor.
