Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Rotator Cuff Disease And Osteoarthritis Mean?
I m a 57, white female. This is the radiology report from 3 recent xrays. Humeral head is well-seated within the glenoid. No acute osseous abnormality, fracture or dislocation. There is minimal subcortical cyst formation which suggests rotator cuff disease. The AC joint is aligned with minimal osteoarthritis. No radiopaque foreign body or pathologic soft tissue calcifications. Could I get this in more accessible language, please, and a pic if you have one? And is it possible to treat WITHOUT physical therapy? Thank you. Ava
Hi..Can understand your concern. As per your query about rotator cuff disease and osteoarthritis .......rotator cuff denotes to shoulder joint to which some muscles hold it making a cuff and this joint is rotatory .There is some cyst formation in this area and the pathology is called as rotator cuff disease in the report ..Also there some degenerative changes observed which are age related changes and you shouldn't worry. The best way to prevent them is to exercise regularly by yoga and walks to keep yourself fit.Avoid any weight gain by diet control as weight gain worsens the condition of arthritis.Since cyst formation is there, in rotator cuff disease it will be treated by surgical procedure...I advice you to consult orthopaedic doctor about its evaluation and treatment.I hope the information helps.Take care.
