What Do Rashes On The Upper Arms, Armpits And Thighs Indicate?

Since yesterday I suddenly developed a skin rash on my upper arms, armpits, upper thighs, and buttocks. I m taking 10mg Lipitor and 20mg lisinopril daily plus CoQ10 and a multivitamin. I ve been taking these meds for many years to control cholesterol levels. Prior to Lipitor, I took Zocor and was prescribed 80mg at one point. My sister insists that I should stop taking statins as they are particularly harmful to Asian people. What is your recommendation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction.

I suggest you use steroid cream for local relief and daily antihistamines.

Statins can damage your liver, so I suggest you do a complete blood count and liver enzymes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
