What Course Of Treatment Should Be Taken For Spinal Stenosis And Leg Pain?

I have recently been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. My pain doctor had an mri done but was focused on my knee problems and never discussed anything other than that with me. I took the Mri info to my family doctor about six months ago. I saw her a couple of weeks ago but she didn t mention it even though I have complained about lower back pain and terrible leg pain. I was told to take tylenol up to 2000 mgs per day to see if that helped. it has not and I don t know what to do

Hello,

As the MRI is suggestive of spinal canal stenosis we need to correlate with the clinical symptoms. If the symptoms aren't that bad than with pain medicine and physiotherapy you should do well.

The reason I feel that none commented much over the stenosis is that there might not be many symptoms which need to be taken into a serious platform.

The symptoms I meant to speak is about compression over the nerve and leading to paresis of the lower limbs. If that isn't there than we have to ignore the stenosis and go for physiotherapy for reducing pain and improving the muscle strength.

In case the symptoms of stenosis increases then surgery will be the choice to look for. But most stenosis isn't that much troubling so it is left ignored.

Kindly do physiotherapy along with pain killers and you should do well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
