What Could Water Retention In Lower Limbs After Increasing HCTZ Dosage Indicate?

Recently my regular MD decided to increase my dosage of HCTZ to 37.5 mg in addition to my regular meds Metoprolol and Amlodipine, however my left lower leg and foot seem to be retaining tissue fluid. I have chronic htn and Barrets esophagitis. Ithink I need a follow-up please advise

Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.
Based on the history given you seem to have developed peripheral edema (swollen foot and leg) which appears to be due to side of the drug Amlodipine.
Or it may also be due to heart failure.
I advise you to have regular follow up with your physician and you may need an echocardiography to assess the functioning of the heart.
Continue taking the treatment with increased dose of hydrochlorothiazide for the relief of edema.
