What Could Swollen, Discolored Elbow And Forearm Pain After An Injury Indicate?

I had my elbow slammed against a dresser last night. It hurt quite a bit after it happened but the pain isn t going away. My elbow is swollen and discolored, but the pain kept me up all night and if I leave my arm straight, my fingers and hand go numb. I also can t touch my fingers/hand to my shoulder without severe pain. Did I just badly bruise my elbow or is it fractured?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to contusion or sprain. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan to rule out ligament or tendon injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
