HI
Thanks for posting your query to HCM .

See in CHF swelling happens in both the legs and not only in one leg . So if he is having swelling in only one leg then it's not due to CHF but something else .

Causes could be Infection of the leg ( Cellulitis ) , Improper blood flow to leg ( Varicose Veins ).

It would be better if you can post the picture of the blister so that I can see it and advise you better .

Also get Venous Doppler of right leg and revert back with report .

I don't think his CHF is worsening but it's better if he takes water pill 2 times a day . Also measure his weight daily and if it's increasing every week consult your Heart doctor again.

Cardiologist Dr. Sukhvinder Singh's  Response
Dear Madam
Thanks for your query to us.
The likelihood that he has developed congestive heart failure is very high considering that he had CHF and now has pedal edema. However CHF is usually associated with swelling in both legs and not one, unless patient lies down on his one side for most of the day. There may be other reasons like a clot in veins or infection. Both these causes are worse than CHF in short term and will not respond to water pill. You must take another consultation if you do not find him improving in a day or so.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
