What Could Sore Lumps On Jawline And Under The Ear Of A Child Indicate?
I am writing in reguards to my 10 year old daughter. She found this little lump in front of her ear in her jawline and has messed with it of course and now is sore she also has one below her ear. And she isn t sick or been sick lately. Just wondering if this is common or if I should get it checked out to be better safe than sorry:)
The symptoms you mention in query are Due to two possibilities .
Firstly it may be a lymph node. The area that you’re describing does have lymph nodes present. Even though you are not currently experiencing cold symptoms it is possible that you are fighting off a cold.
Secondly swollen salivary gland due to blockage of duct , you may have a stone that is blocking your salivary gland. In this case, eating may be painful because the saliva was unable to pass through the duct.
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine it by palpation and prescribe antibiotics course .
In caes of salivary gland doctor may remove the gland by simple excision or perform marsupialization .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
