What Could Irregular Period And Frequent Urination Be Indicative Of?

I was wondering what s been going on with me lately. My menstrual cycle is somewhat off. For the past months it has varied from 28 days up to 37 days. Last one being 34 days. From Aug 08-14 I had my period. My period is always 7 days. Starting on the 23 up to the 29. I engaged into sexual activity with my spouse every other day. On Sept. 11 I experience some light bleeding, after I had sex earlier on that day. Of course I assumed it was my period. It was very light, however, over the days it picked up. I found it rather strange because it was never enough to fill the whole tampon. My period usually get heavier. This one however seemed different. I didn t pay attention because I just thought it was a light period instead. It was strange to me that it was just getting lighter over the days and not heavier. It ended in 5 days instead of 7. Or so, I thought. After day 5 all i was experiencing was very little blood. Which brings me to now. After day 7 I have been experiencing brown discharge. It started off brown but now is fresh pinkish blood. It has been going on for what seems like 5 days. It isn t a lot and I don t have any severe pain. Maybe some cramps here and there, but I am just wondering what this is since I have never experience this before. I only see this fresh blood when I wipe and like I stated before, It isn t a lot to the point where I have to wear a tampon or anything. I don t know if it could be an infection, I have no burning sensation or itching, nor does it smell. The only thing I do have is frequent urination and maybe a few cramps. Can someone please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Irregular periods is commonly due to poor general health (anemia), stress, thyroid issues, excessive exercise, PCOS, IUD, use of different birth control pills, peri-menopausal phase, fibroid, endometriosis, etc. Frequent urination with abdominal cramps is indicative of UTI. However, such symptoms can also be due to overactive bladder, cystitis, kidney infection, etc.

You are suggested to visit a gynecologist or a urologist and get clinically examined. Get CBC, Urinalysis (R/E, C/S) and other required Imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. In the meantime, avoid addictions if any. Stay well hydrated & well nourished. You can take antacids and spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one SOS to get relieve from abdominal cramps. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of your clinical condition.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
