What Could Constant Reddish Blurred Vision Suggest?

Hi, I'm seeing a small reddish blur in my vision (left eye) when I close my eye the image turns bright white (it is shaped like an asterisk *) at first I thought it was afterburn like when you look at a bright light and look away but I'm not looking at anything intensely bright and this image is persistent (it is not a floater) has been bothering me for a couple of days now. I see this during the day and at night. Any ideas?
