What Could Cause Sore Swollen Breast With Small Dark Bruises With A Mass Under One?
Hi I just made an appointment with my 13 year old daughters family physician regarding this complaint - she has been complaining of very sore swollen breasts that started 17 days ago Dec 25th - her normal menstrual cycle started on Jan 4th the pain went away when her menstrual cycle started - pretty normal - the weird part is she developed 1-2 small deep dark bruises randomly on her breast that have been fading and developing - no history of trauma - these bruised areas are not pain full but there is a mass under one one of the bruises that remains- they range from very deep purple to reds - any insight - Thank You Tanya
I would recommend a physical examination, a mammogram, and a check on blood coagulation profile.
The cause could be purely hormonal at times, but if trauma has been ruled out completely then the above investigations should help to find out the most accurate cause.
Also, it is important to note whether you noticed these spots on your daughters body or she reported them to you. At times, teenagers are too shy to report a few things due to situations like relationships, school bullies, etc. So it is also important to dwell into this.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
