What Could Cause Severe Pain In The Area Of Injected B12 Shot With Very Small Bump?

My husband was giving me my B12 shot in the buttocks. I had intense pain when the needle was inserted and after he took it out bright red blood was squirting. It took a minute to get the blood to stop but we did. I know we have arteries everywhere. What if he did hit an artery? The medicine is already in there and my buttock is still hurting bad. This happened about 20 mins ago. Other than the pain at injection site and very small bump I have no other symptoms.

Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM.
Vitamin B12 injection is red in color and is given deep in the muscle.Hence there is not need to panic if it oozes out from the injection site. But if you have redness in the local area, pain and swelling which does not subside it will require medical attention.Donot squeeze or press the swelling.Chances of being injected into the artery is very rare.Donot panic. You shall get well soon.Hope this answers your query.
