What Could Cause Red-yellow Discharge After Switching Birth Control Methods?

Hi. I was on implant birth control for two months. And remove it due to heavy bleeding. After removal of implant I change to pills and the bleeding continues for more than five month. Then I decided to stop using the pills and the bleeding stop after 8 9 days, then I have been having red yellow discharge for two weeks now. What could be the problem?

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative that you are suffering from polyp, fibroids or endometriosis that is causing you so much bleeding. Get clinically examined by a gynecologist, get blood tests, urinalysis, CBC, ultrasonography of the uterus (with fallopian tubes) done to detect the pathology that is causing you discomfort.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology, the severity of the symptoms and stage of the underlying cause. You will be treated with medicines or suggested surgery if need be. Get treated at the earliest before worsening of the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
