What Could Be The Reason For Increasing SGPT Levels And Reducing Bilirubin ?
My wife was admitted in a hospital for 10 days due to acute Viral hepatitis A. She is diabetic since last 4-5 years.
When discharged from the hospital on 5th February, her Total Bilirubin levels were 1.3 and SGPT(ALT) of 350. She continued having B. Complex tablets as per doctors recommendations. The test for SGPT(ALT) has been done after every 10 days since her discharge from hospital and it showed an increasing trend of 371, 395, 650 and two days back it was 795. Her bilirubin level is now at 0.8.
What could be the reason for SGPT levels increasing and bilirubin reducing??? Any suggestions on what should be done next?...Thanks in advance... Dinesh
the ALT levels you have quoted are alarming, with such a trend. I suggest u refer back to your physician as soon as possible and stop the use of any new medication that might have been started.
