What Could Be The Reason For Having Tongue Pain And A Swollen Feeling In Tongue After A Surgery?
Hello, my 8 year old had his tonsils and adenoids out on 1/14. He is complaining of tongue pain and a "swollen" feeling tongue. I called the doctor and they said this was common but should go away soon. The surgical center it shouldn't happen at all. I'm quite confused!! Thank you!
Yes it is common to have the feeling of tongue swelling after the surgery and this will subside i a month or two.It is due to the compensatory hypertrophy of the lymphoid follicles at the base of the tongue and this will come down. just ask him to continue gargling with warm salt water 1-2 times a day , he will be fine.
Thanks
