What Could Be The Reason For Having Difficulty In Breathing While Climbing Stairs?

I am a woman of 46. When climbing steps, after the second flight, I am panting more than other people and having real difficulty getting air into me. I am 160 lbs and 5.6 inches, weight and height. I have had this problem ever since I was a little girl of 7 or so.
