Hello,
1) I can understand your concern for your husband's symptoms.
2) This symptoms are suggestive of fistula-in-ano.
3) This is a condition in which small
abscess develop around anal region which sometimes progress inside parallel to
anal canal and develop small tract which is known as fistula.
4) This fistula has two opening; one at skin level through where pus was discharged and inner opening at anal canal.
5) Your husband might require further evaluation in term of physical examination, specific investigation for fistula (fistulogram or
MRI pelvis) to locate tract and position of fistula.
6) Medical treatment will help to reduce swelling and infection along this tract but ultimately surgery is necessary for this condition.
7) Also, he must take
stool softener or laxative to reduce intensity of
constipation as straining for defecation would increase symptoms associated with fistula.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
