What Causes Whitish And Yellowish Discharge From The Nose?

I have had what I thought was a cold for 9 days now and I truly don t know where the milky slim coming out of my nose is being manufactured...it won t stop. It started out clear but now it looks like puss, yellowy, milky and sometimes have a small amount of blood it in. I cannot smell anything, I cannot taste anything and I have a coat on my tongue. I also have a cough which has been productive for the last few days but still persists. I have been using a sinus rinse and mouth wash and nose sprays and cough medicine following the instructions accordingly. I feel wonderful aside from these conditions but I cannot make this, whatever it is, go away. s

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain it seems that discharge of yellow goo like matter from nose is most probably due to infection in the sinuses leading to Sinusitis and as the sinuses drains through nostrils, therefore
fluid/pus accumulation in sinuses can drain through nose..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation
and investigations like PNS view x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done
accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants
like Pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Do warm compresses around nostrils..
