What Causes Vomiting And Headache After A Head Injury?

I think I may have had a concussion. I had been drinking with my friends I and fell hard. I had a hair clip in the back of my head. I remember falling but not getting up I vomitted and passed out. These symptoms could be from drinking but I have had bad headaches for the past 3 days and blood from my throat every day, but my throat is not sore. I have bad bruising on my arm, side, and leg from my fall but I landed on the back of my head first so I imagine I landed pretty hard and the clip probably didnt help.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. You might had concussion after head injury which is usually followed by headache for few days. Headache may occur due to various reasons like injury of scalp skin, muscle, skull bone fracture, bleeding or clot in brain. Occurrence of vomiting in your case may be due to alcohol intake as you suggested but more chances are that it occurred because of headache. Vomiting usually occurs after severe head injury to relieve pressure in brain. The blood from throat is coming most probably due to erosion in throat from sudden vomiting. It usually heals in 4-5 days. But if your symptoms still persist, you should consult neurosurgeon. You might need CT head to rule out fracture or bleed in brain.

Thanks. Hope it will help you. Take care
