What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Sexual Activity?

My boyfriend was fingering me and all of a sudden there was blood, when he pulled his fingers out. The blood was a washy browny and smelt like iron. I didn t even notice till he pointed it out I felt no pain and nothing different. What was it ? Should I be worried ?

Hello,

Bleeding after sexual activity is commonly due to infections (PID), vaginal dryness, vaginal tearing, polyps or cysts, STD, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an OBGYN, get all tests (blood tests, testing of the vaginal discharge, trans-vaginal ultrasound, urine test, vaginal examination by colposcope, etc) done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. In the meantime, during sexual activity use vaginal lubricants, vaginal moisturizers, take vitamin E supplements. You may need an estrogen therapy.
