What Causes Urinary Tract Infection?
Hi, over the past 2 months, I have been on three series of anitbiotics for an e. coli urinary tract infection. The symptoms include lower abdominal pain, worse of right side, that also travels to upper thighs at times. Lower back pain. "Tingly" feeling during urination. Weak, hollow feeling in abdominal center- feels "not quite right." Took a home UTI test last night, and again leukocytes are increased; at this point they are "trace." Why do these symptoms continue? Is it possible that it is vaginally related, or have some type of ovarian cyst?

1. Get a urine culture done and based on sensitivity report, get appropriate treatment.
2. Multiple times, repeated infections point towards an abnormality of the urinary tract. Get an ultrasound or pyelogram done to look for any abnormalities.
3. Not related to ovarian cyst. Vaginal infection, if present would show on pap smear or colposcopy.
