What Causes Ulcers And Lower Back Pain While On TB Medication?
Hi,sir,tb affect on my neck ,treatment start March 15,i am using the drug first akt4,This is not enough,so dr changed the drug on may combutal 1000mg,pyzina 1500,l-cin 500,r-cinex600,streptomycin inj,streptomycin side effect of vomit,fever,so stop streptomycin inj,using 18 vials only,tumour bureted automatically.after use of drug byb2 month ,now ulcer problem,lower back Bain ,so stop pyzina 1500,now using r-cinex600,combutal 1000,benadan 20 mg use, is this correct way,my stomach problem not solved,scan,endoscopy are taken,no problem in all,ok advice.

As per my clinical experience, the ulcers are drug related side effect but the drugs cannot be withheld as it is mandatory to cure the tuberculosis that you have to complete the 6-9 months period as per
the WHO guidelines. The following measures will help you to combat the ulcer issue in a better way:
- Avoid spices, non-veg, junk items
- Syrup antacid as mylanta or others
- Empiric use of proton pump inhibitors are not recommended as they affect the drug metabolism pathway of liver (P 450 enzymes) and hence will alter the active drug levels used for tuberculosis
- Do regular aerobics
- Control your body weight
- Avoid smoking, alcohol if consuming
