What Causes Transverse Myelitis After A Flu Shot?

Doctors here a baffled. .. Exhibiting symptoms similar to transverse myelitis. Onset of symptoms 48 hours after flu shot . Been to neurologist they said a singular bout of ms. Also transverse myelitis also myelitis. 15 different doctors but no diagnosis with treatment Only gabapentin with no noticeable improvement. Help??

Cannot say in pyour particular case wihtout an examination. AND TM is an inflammatory disase of one section of spinal cord.

Multiple sclerosis, lupus,sarcoid and other auto-immune disease certainly can have inflammation in the spine and cause TM.

There can be inflammation in the spine prior to other areas of the nervous system being affected in early MS. There can be inflammation ONLY in the spine also.

But, it's inflammation in the spine. Infection should be ruled out with lumbar puncture. Tumor ruled out by any imaging study and then steroids and/or other ways to damp downt he immune system started in TM.
