What Causes The Irritation And Discomfort In The Throat?
Hi i have been struggling with feeling like m throat is really irritated and causes me to gag every once in awhile and spit a lot. I don't have allergies or post nasal drip and i have had enlarged tonsils almost all my life. Could my tonsils be the reason I am having this problem? I also have tonsil stones that I noticed.

I have been through your query. Enlarged tonsils are a sign of infection and as you said that your tonsils have been such for quite a long time, it is a possibility of a chronic infection.
Are the tonsils tender or is there pain in the tonsils.
Regarding the Tonsilolith (Stones), your history of recurrent infections (swollen tonsils) is one of the causes of the tonsil stones.
The Irritation of the throat is due to infection and swollen tonsils may be a cause. The irritation is generally caused due to the inflammatory reaction against any infection or injury.
I would suggest you to have a visit with a oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to get the Tonsils removed.
Meanwhile if I were your Dentist, I would have prescribed you anti-inflammatory medicine like Levocetirizine to relieve of the irritation and antibiotic to tackle with the infection.
