Hello Madam,

I will try and answer your queries as best as I can.

Your endocrinologist has suggested correctly that you take Tab. Thyrofit 50 mcgs once a day. But you have to be patient with this medication, you need to wait at least 6 weeks before you will start to see some sort of improvement with your symptoms. This is due to the biomechanics of the thyroid hormone replacement tablet that you are taking. Also kindly get your TSH and T4 levels checked in 8 weeks time. If the levels are still abnormal, then your doctor can change the dose of your Thyrofit. There is no use in checking the blood tests earlier than that. Similarly wait for at least 6-8 weeks for your menstrual period to come back. If still not seen a period then you could get a basic hormonal profile to rule out PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). The tests will include FSH, LH, Estradiol, Progesterone, Prolactin, testosterone and SHBG.

I hope this answer has helped you. Kindly get back to me if you have any other queries.

Thank you
